KAMPALA:  The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) has delivered 12 laptops to the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC), one for each of its regional offices, to support the rollout of a new digital complaints management system.

The handover follows a capacity-building training for UHRC staff and forms part of NITA-U’s work under the Uganda Digital Acceleration Program (UDAP-GovNet). The initiative is being implemented through the E-Services Development Framework Project to digitally transform institutions in the Justice, Law and Order Sector (JLOS).

With the new equipment, UHRC regional offices can now log and process complaints directly from the field, reducing reliance on manual, paper-based workflows. The system is designed to shorten response times and improve transparency in how citizens access human rights services across the country.

NITA-U said the intervention aligns with government efforts to expand e-government services and ensure public institutions deliver faster, more accountable services to Ugandans.

UHRC welcomed the support, noting that digital tools will help it reach more communities and manage cases more efficiently.

The rollout underscores Uganda’s broader push to leverage technology for governance, justice, and human rights protection under UDAP.
