KALANGALA: NRM flag bearer Idah Nabayiga on Wednesday kicked off her campaign for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election with a meeting in Kagoonya Village, Bujumba Sub-county, Bunyama Island.
Addressing residents, Nabayiga thanked them for the overwhelming support the NRM received during the 2021 general elections. She expressed gratitude to the people of Kagoonya for entrusting the party with leadership by electing LC5 Chairperson Agnes Lunkuse and Hon. William Lugoloobi as Bujumba Constituency MP.
“I clearly understand the challenges facing the people of Kalangala,” Nabayiga said. She pledged to use her position, with the NRM government in power, to lobby for improved service delivery and to effectively monitor government programs to ensure residents benefit.
The NRM candidate urged Kagoonya residents and the wider Bunyama Island community to canvass for her votes day and night. She also called on them to persuade opposition supporters to join what she described as “the winning team”.
Nabayiga’s campaign launch marks the start of active mobilization ahead of the by-election.
