A flash flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in areas including Porter, Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita following heavy rainfall and releases from the Lake Conroe dam that impact the region downstream along the West Fork of the San Jacinto River.
Floods have killed 181 people since March, with hundreds of thousands forced to leave their homes, the government and Red Cross said on Wednesday, as dozens more were killed in neighbouring Tanzania and Burundi. Torrential rain and floods have destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure across the region. The death toll in Kenya exceeds that from floods triggered by the El Nino weather phenomenon late last year. In the central Kenyan town of Mai Mahiu, where at least 48 died in flash floods on Monday, two bodies were recovered from the debris on Wednesday, Kenya Red Cross South Rift…

Al-Houthi did not specify whether the casualties were civilians or fighters from his group. However, the group revealed in two previous statements the killing of 22 of its fighters, including high-ranking officers in the airstrikes. The…
Dozens of protesters on Thursday formed a human chain in the British capital, surrounding a coach taking asylum seekers to the UK’s controversial Bibby Stockholm barge. The protest took place when a coach was sent to Peckham Road to pick up asylum seekers to transfer them to the floating barge, moored at Portland Port in Dorset in the southwest. The coach could not leave the area after being surrounded by the protesters at about 8 a.m. local time (0700GMT). Video footage, circulated on social media, showed the crowd chanting pro-immigration slogans, including “stop deportation,” referring to the UK’s much-debated migration…
