Ugandan Students Shine at Huawei Global ICT Awards in Shenzhen, China

Shenzhen, China : In a remarkable display of talent and innovation, students from Cavendish University and Gulu University proudly secured the 2nd Prize at the prestigious Huawei Global ICT Awards held in Shenzhen, China. This annual competition, which attracts bright minds from around the world, showcases cutting-edge advancements in information and communications technology (ICT), drawing participants from 40 countries.

The award ceremony was a significant event, attended by notable figures including Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr. Turyagyenda conveyed a heartfelt message of pride from the First Lady, emphasizing the government’s support for the students’ achievements and the importance of their contributions to the ICT sector.

Huawei, a global leader in ICT solutions, has been a pivotal force in driving technological innovation and education worldwide. The company’s commitment to fostering talent through such competitions aligns with its vision of empowering the next generation of tech leaders.

Among the distinguished attendees was Ambassador Judyth Nsababera, Consul General of the Republic of Uganda in Guangzhou, who had the honor of presenting the winning medals to the Ugandan team.
