Uganda Premier League debutants, Blacks Power FC, have suspended defender Mike Kawooya indefinitely. The club claimed in a statement that during a normal check on all players on October 2, 2022, it was discovered that Kawooya was absent from the camp without even having authorization from any club officials.
He didn’t arrive back at camp until the morning of the following day when he was already drunk and out of order. According to the club, this produced problems for the players who were sleeping in the camp.
Due to his unacceptable actions, the team decided to send the defender home.
“On 3rd/October/2022 about 7:00 am, you arrived at the camp extremely drunk and out of order. You caused inconveniences to the players resting in their beds as you forced some of them out”, The club statement reads “With such character, you certainly didn’t give time for your recovery and healing, something we all believe puts the club at a loss to keep a player who has no personal discipline and professional public conduct. The statement continues, “With such acts, the club made a decision to indefinitely suspend the player with effect from October 4th, 2022.”
After leaving Arua Hill SC, Kawooya signed on with Blacks Power FC as a free agent. In the past, Kawooya has played for Kenya’s Kakamega FC, Tooro United, BUL FC, and Busoga United FC with a 5-0 loss to BUL FC in the league opener, the Lira-based side will look to bounce back when they visit Busoga United at Kakindu Stadium, Jinja
