Hon. Susan K. Muhwezi Issues Sweet Message Congratulating Husband on Ministerial Reappointment

KAMPALA: Susan Kabonero Muhwezi, wife of newly appointed Minister of Security Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, has shared a heartfelt message of gratitude following her husband’s reappointment to government.

“Congratulations Darling. Glory to God from whom all blessings come,” she wrote. “We thank H.E. the President of Uganda for appointing Jim yet again, and he pledges to serve you and the people of Uganda.”

In her message, Mrs. Kabonero Muhwezi also expressed appreciation to “Gen. MK for the trust you have in Jim as CDF, & Afande Saleh his comrade,” noting the long-standing bonds of service and friendship. She closed with a prayer: “God bless.”

Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, a veteran military officer and public servant, has served in various senior roles over the years. His new appointment as Minister of Security has drawn congratulatory messages from family, colleagues, and well-wishers across the country.

The statement reflects both personal pride and a public pledge of dedication to national service as Gen. Muhwezi takes on the role.

WHO IS GEN. JIM KATUGUGU MUHWEZI:

He is a Ugandan retired military officer, lawyer, and politician.

MILITARY AND GOVERNMENT ROLE:

He is a Retired (Rtd) Major General in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

Gen. Jim is a Minister for Security in Uganda’s Cabinet. He was appointed to this role in 2021 and still holds it as of May 2026.

He’s also the NRM Chairperson for Rukungiri District.

POLITICAL ROLE:

He’s the current MP for Rujumbura County, Rukungiri District. He was sworn in for the 12th Parliament, serving the 2026–2031 term.

He’s been in parliament and cabinet for decades, serving in ministries like Health and Information before moving to Security.

BACKGROUND:

He was born on 23rd August, 1950 in Rukungiri District.

EDUCATION: LLB from Makerere University in 1979, plus military police and security intelligence training in Tanzania and the former Soviet Union. He also got a Diploma in Legal Practice from LDC in 2009.

After being sworn in May 2026, he called for focus on service delivery, infrastructure, and value addition to create jobs.

He intervened in local disputes in Rukungiri, like the Nyabugando irrigation scheme issue.

He’s one of the NRM bush war veterans from the 1981-1986 struggle that brought President Museveni to power.
