SPA Rugambwa Urges All Ugandans to Vote NRM Flag Bearers in LCI Elections

Mbarara, Uganda: Senior Presidential Advisor on Agriculture and Local People, Hon. Peace Rugambwa, has called on Ugandans to vote exclusively for NRM flag bearers in the upcoming Local Council I elections, describing the party as the only vehicle for sustainable development.

Speaking to party leaders and grassroots mobilizers in Western Uganda, Rugambwa said LCI leadership forms the critical link between government programs and communities.

“The LCI is the bridge for service delivery. The NRM is the only visionary party that can cause development. By voting NRM, you will have voted for development,” Rugambwa stated.

The appeal comes as Rugambwa intensifies grassroots mobilization through her Boona Bageigahare Nyekundire Group, a platform she has used for more than two decades to support vulnerable families across Western Uganda.

Following her appointment by President Yoweri Museveni, Rugambwa relaunched and expanded the initiative, focusing on women, youth, and boda boda riders. She has channeled seed capital into community SACCOs and organized groups of market vendors, tomato traders, fresh food dealers, matooke and cassava traders, car wash operators, and other informal sector players. Each intervention, she said, is designed to uplift livelihoods rather than create dependency.

Political analysts note that Rugambwa has also emerged as a key mobilizer for the NRM in the region, drawing support from previously opposition-leaning groups through dialogue and engagement. She has coordinated several of President Museveni’s major rallies in Western Uganda and was recently named Coordinator of Women in the Patriotic League of Uganda for the region.

Local leaders credit her consistency and focus on results for building broad trust at the grassroots.

“The Peace Rugambwa spirit is about conviction and perseverance,” one coordinator said. “Her work is anchored in uplifting the poor and ensuring capable NRM flag bearers succeed.”

With LCI polls approaching, Rugambwa said the party’s priority is to field credible candidates and ensure high voter turnout to consolidate service delivery at the village level.
