Mr. Kabandana, The PLU deputy coordinator Kampala region and chief of staff Central Region has expressed profound gratitude to the thousands of Ugandans who turned up on Sunday to make the event a resounding success, describing the run as a powerful display of national unity and patriotism.

Held in Kampala to celebrate General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s birthday, the run attracted participants from all walks of life. Politicians from across the political spectrum, prominent business leaders, security agencies, corporate teams, cultural groups, students, and families.
The MK Birthday Run 2026 was further enriched by the heartwarming participation of the elderly and children, embodying unity across generations. Grandfathers in their seventies walked alongside grandchildren in branded t-shirts, while mothers carried toddlers across finish line.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every participant who made the MK Birthday Run 2026 a remarkable success,” Kabandana said in a statement released Monday. “Your energy, unity, and patriotism turned Kampala’s streets into a symbol of hope and togetherness.”

The event, which has grown into one of Uganda’s largest annual gatherings, was marked by vibrant displays of camaraderie. Ministers were seen jogging alongside boda riders, CEOs shared water points with market vendors, and UPDF officers paced with university students. Entertainment teams and cultural troupes kept the atmosphere electric at the start and finish points.

Kabandana paid special tribute to the sponsors, partners, and service teams whose support was critical. “Special appreciation goes to our sponsors, volunteers, medical teams, and Uganda Police and UPDF for ensuring a safe, secure, and vibrant event,” he continued. “Without your dedication behind the scenes, this day would not have been possible.”
Funds and awareness raised from this year’s run will go toward charity cause.
Kabandana emphasized that the true victory belonged to every Ugandan who participated. “You didn’t just run — you ran for Uganda,” he said. “You showed the world that despite our differences, we can stand together for a common purpose.”
He urged participants to carry the spirit of the run beyond the finish line and into their daily lives — in workplaces, schools, and communities.
“Let us take the unity we felt on the road and turn it into action for Uganda. Support each other. Build together. Keep the spirit of the MK Birthday Run alive 365 days a year.”
Planning for the next edition of the MK Birthday Run is already underway, with organizers promising an even bigger and more inclusive event in 2027.
