Buhonda, Kisiita-Kakumiro: In a groundbreaking development, residents of Buhonda Parish in Kisiita Sub County are excited over the prospect of receiving freehold land titles, thanks to the unwavering efforts of their Member of Parliament, Hon. Agaba Aisa Barisigara Black. Today, surveyors facilitated by the Uganda Land Commission kicked off the boundary-opening process, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards securing land ownership for the locals.

As Hon. Agaba Aisa Black reflected on the achievement, she emphasized the importance of land rights in her constituency. “Fighting for the rights of Bugangaizi East people on land has been and continues to be a top agenda in my 2021/2026 term,” she stated. “I am thrilled to see the fruits of our labor, and I commend the Uganda Land Commission and all stakeholders for their tireless efforts in making this a reality.”

The journey to this point has been long and tedious, with Hon. Agaba Aisa Black engaging in intense negotiations with landlords and administrators to willingly accept payment, thereby enabling residents to acquire freehold land titles. The land in question, located on Block 128, Plot 11, will soon be fully owned by the residents, marking a new era of security and prosperity for the community.

Residents of Buhonda are not the only ones set to benefit from Hon. Agaba Aisa Black’s efforts. Other areas, including Butenja and Nakasagazi Lwembuzi, in Kibijo Sub County have already received their freehold land titles, while residents of Kyabalitwa Ward in Kisiita Town Council have been surveyed and are awaiting title issuance. In Kasambya, Kibijo Sub County, surveyors are already done with boundary opening further expanding the reach of this initiative.

However, not all areas have been smooth sailing. In some areas, including Ijumangabo, Kyananjubu, Rwamata, Butiita and others, fake land titles there have been canceled. Nevertheless, Hon. Agaba Aisa Black remains committed to her constituents, having already engaged administrators of land titles in Kyakasimbazi and Kitahemba in Katikara Sub County, referring them to the Ministry of Lands to initiate the payment process.

The impact of this development cannot be overstated. For the residents of Buhonda, receiving freehold land titles will not only provide security but also unlock economic opportunities, enabling them to invest in their land with confidence. One resident said, “This is the best news we have ever received in this area. We are grateful to Hon. Agaba Aisa Black for her tireless efforts in fighting for our land rights.”
