Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) and the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) have held a meeting to discuss potential collaboration on promoting and protecting human rights in the oil and gas sector.


The meeting, was chaired by Hon. Mariam Fauzat Wangadya, the UHRC Chairperson accompanied by senior officials, including Directors Pauline Nansamba Mutumba, Mr. Byonabye Kamadi, and Sarah Nakhumitsa and other UHRC technical staff, aimed to strengthen partnerships in ensuring the rights of communities around the Albertine Graben are safeguarded.
Discussions focused on joint efforts to address human rights concerns and promote responsible oil and gas operations in the region. The meeting reinforces the commitment of both institutions to uphold human rights standards in the sector’s development.
Further talks regarding the partnership are expected as implementation of action points on this joint initiative goes on.
