Entebbe, Uganda: Ms. Hellen Seku, the Commissioner National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps has urged Ugandan youths to contribute to the country’s development instead of relying on handouts.
Speaking during Wagagai’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, Seku underscored the importance of patriotism and national unity. “Ideological disorientation occurs when the youth want to be given, given, but they don’t want to work,” she said. “Before you complain that the country is doing nothing for you, what have you contributed to this country?”
Seku praised the youths who are adding value to the country and encouraged employers to create more job opportunities. She committed government support to entrepreneurs in terms of resources to grow their businesses. “Come in, bring more projects, so that all our youth are employed and nobody will be idle and disorderly,” she said.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government for bringing peace and unity to the country, which has led to wealth creation and opportunities for Ugandans to work. She also praised President Yoweri Museveni for his leadership and contributions to the country’s development.
