Kampala, Uganda: In a move that has sent shock waves through Uganda’s political landscape, NBS TV presenter Zambali Blasio has dropped a hint about his potential parliamentary ambitions. The popular news anchor and panelist on NBS TV’s “Barometer” show revealed that he had a “productive and encouraging” meeting with National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine.
Blasio’s meeting with Bobi Wine has sparked widespread speculation that he may be considering a parliamentary run on the NUP ticket. Although the constituency he may represent is still unknown, Blasio’s Facebook post suggests that he is eager to take the next step in his political journey.
“I’m committed to continuing our shared vision for a better future, and I’m eager to take this next step with your support,” Blasio wrote, fueling rumors that he may officially announce his candidacy soon.
This is not the first time Blasio has expressed his support for Bobi Wine. In 2024, he boldly declared that Bobi Wine was his president while serving as the master of ceremonies at King Saha’s show, “Ebiseera Ebyo.” Despite the Electoral Commission’s declaration of Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the winner of the 2021 presidential election, Blasio’s endorsement of Bobi Wine raised eyebrows, but he did not face any repercussions from his employers at NBS TV.
As Uganda gears up for general elections in early February 2026, Blasio’s potential entry into politics could be a significant development. His popularity as a TV presenter and his existing relationship with Bobi Wine could make him a formidable candidate.
However, it remains to be seen whether Blasio will officially announce his candidacy and which constituency he may represent. One thing is certain, though – his potential entry into politics has already generated significant buzz and will be closely watched by Ugandans in the coming weeks and months.
