OBONGI/WESTNILE: The office of Resident District Commissioner(RDC) Obongi ,has discovered a supected fish pond ghost project in Ewafa sub-county.
The over 65 million shilling project under DRDIP(Development Response to Displacement impact project)which was supposed to benefit at least 51 people does not exist.
This was discovered by the RDC Obongi district,Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka and his deputy RDC Denis Jawoko while monitring government funded programs in Ewafa sub-county, Obongi district.
The fish pond project which received funds meant for the project in the year 2021 only exists on paper.
The intended beneficiaries complained to the RDC’s office that the project has made them poorer because they were asked to inject money in the same project which has never taken off.

The OC CID Obongi CPS Mr Adrani Christopher is heading a team investigating the ghost project.
Recently, four staff of Obongi district local government were arrested by police over sh 235m missing money meant for procuring a double cabin pickup which was not purchased at all.
The suspects were dragged to Police under CRB 168/2023 by RDC Hasaka Samuel Mpimbaza and his Deputy RDC, Denis Jawoko who were the main complainants in the case.
However ,the charges of causing financial loss,abuse of office, conspiracy to defraud and corruption related charges were levied on the four arrested Obongi local government staff.
