Kampala, Uganda: In a turn of events this week, there is a video that made rounds on social media ditching Bukoto Central MP, Hon. Richard Ssebamala for having received and not paid back 5 Million Uganda Shillings that was collected by Katigondo National Major Seminary. The five million was meant to procure iron sheets (mabaati) for completion of girl’s dormitory at the school of the same parish.
Genesis.
In a long phone call interview, Hon. Richard Ssebamala revealed that, the Rev. Fr. Gerald Lwanga wanted iron sheets worth UGX. 12,000,000 Million to complete roofing of the dormitory, called him and told him that he initially has 5 Million, seeking help to cite the place where they can get iron sheets. Ssebamala says, this was after a fundraising function at the school where he was a Guest of Honor far back in December, 2022 and had contributed UGX1.5 Million.
“I proceeded and passed on the 5million I had received from Fr. Gerald to the hardware waiting for him to deposit a million each day for seven days as he had promised but this was not possible. On that day, I had a trip to Zambia after when i came back and the 7 Million had not been sent, I again had another trip to South Africa, came back and he had not sent the money. However, as he was soliciting from me, he was doing the same to Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo who wants to stand against me after crossing to my constituency. In those days, Hon. Kasolo promised them that he will pay for all the iron sheets so they should leave mine” He revealed.
“Fr. Gerald called me and said that they no longer want iron sheets, they want the money but the hardware refused to give me that money so I asked him to give me some time to look for that money, I got it and paid, I did that on a Thursday 27th, April, 2023 and Hon. Kasolo was hosted on Saturday. When Fr. Gerald made that news, someone tipped me, I called him and asked why he made that news against me, he (Rev. Fr) said he has not yet seen the money so I told him to check his mobile wallet and it was true, may be he had not checked before”. He added.
Brother quickly told the media that had covered the event not air the news because he had confirmed receipt of the money.
Therefore when the video made rounds, he was shocked as to why it circulated yet the money was paid.
This publication had published the story that indicated failure by Hon. Ssebamala to pay back the 5 Million but after getting proof, we pulled it down. We now authoritatively say that Hon. Ssebamala stands clean in the current storm that is making round s on social media.
The following conversation clearly shows how Hon. Ssebamala made the payments and confirmation of receipt by Rev. Fr. Gerald Lwanga.
It now clearly shows that Rev. Fr. Gerald Lwanga has no beef at all to cause damage to the repute of Hon. Ssebamala and that what is in media could have been spread by some journalists that failed to delete the content from the event when the seminary had hosted Hon. Kasolo.
