Kampala, Uganda: Security agencies are on a serious hunt for Minister Agnes Nandutu who is said to have gone hiding after the arrest of Hon Amos Lugoloobi (State Minister for Planning over the Karamoja Iron Sheets Scandal.
Lugoloobi was arrested on Friday evening Lugoloobi was arrested shortly after a team he had sent to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) stores in Namanve had handed over 300 iron sheets.
The minister who is also the Ntejeru North MP in Kayunga district is among the five suspects whose files were sanctioned by the Directorate of Public Prosecution – DPP on Thursday.
He is currently detained at Kira Division Police until Monday when he is expected to appear in court.
This website exclusively understands that another top official on the list of five suspects whose files are ready and sanctioned is Agnes Nandutu, the Junior Minister for Karamoja Affairs who reportedly went into hiding on Friday after being tipped on an impending arrest.
Nandutu is among the 15 Ministers who were interrogated by SHACU and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) over the alleged theft and diversion of Karamoja Relief items.
Some of the Ministers have returned some of the controversial iron sheets following a presidential directive while Karamoja Affairs Minister Goretti Kitutu was charged and remanded alongside her brother Micheal Naboya. She was released on Friday after spending a week on remand at Luzira Prison.
Court last week issued a criminal summons for Kitutu’s personal assistant Joshua Abaho who is reportedly on the run.
He has been given until April 27, 2023, to appear in court and answer the charges of corruption clapped against him.
