One person has been admitted to Lira Regional Referral Hospital in Lira City after a car crushed her leg during the Ecumenical Way of the Cross in Lira City on Good Friday.
The victim identified as Lucy Okello, a resident of Kirombe ward, Lira citywest division, had her right foot completely crushed by a vehicle at Odokomit roundabout on the Kamdini-Lira highway after she reportedly missed a step during the walk and her foot found its way under a slowly moving vehicle.
Okello, according to reports, had squeezed herself in the middle of the large crowd.

Planned visits and charity
Bishop Wanok of Lira Catholdiocese, who hosted this year’s Way of the Cross pilgrimage, said they (religious leaders) are planning to visit and comfort the victim in the hospital.
The religious leaders also initiated a charity collection for the victim at the Ordinations ground where Christians collected over shillings 300,000 to meet the medical expenses of the victim.

The incident happened at about 1:00 pm when the Christians were just about to reach the final destination of the 15km pilgrimage that attracted hundreds of believers mainly from the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches.
