Agnes Owiny contested as woman Member of Parliament for Dokolo district in 2006 and lost to the current woman legislator Cecilia Atim Ogwal. She later went to Kenya where she acquired knowledge of making washing bar soap.
She is now earnings 1.6 million daily in her mini washing bar soap factory located in Atama cell Western Ward Dokolo town council. The factory has also employed six workers.
Speaking to umoja-starndard News, Owiny narrated her investment vision as; Love for the country, creating jobs, easy access to products or goods, implementing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) plans among others. Owiny criticized politicians who only survive in their political positions without creating jobs for others. “My vision to set up a mini washing bar soap factory in Dokolo is to advocate for love for our country and Pan-Africanism as my party chairperson Gen. Y.K Museveni has been preaching time and again” Owiny said.
The factory is named after her father “Leoben laundry bar soap” When asked to comment on how government should be involved in helping unsuccessful politicians after election, Owiny said this should not be the work of government but someone to get prepared for after politics.
