Nairobi, Kenya: It is alleged that most of Royal Media Services (RMS) workers that house Citizen Tv and other media subsidiaries have been admitted in critical condition over suspected food poisoning.
An anonymous source has confirmed that at least five employees are currently in hospital over a food borne illness.
It is said that the workers reportedly started developing abdominal pains on Tuesday, December 27, shortly after serving a buffet prepared by a hired catering firm.
Unfortunately, one of the employees who allegedly ate the food was found dead in her house today.
The company is said to have contracted the reputable city-based catering firm to deliver food for the staff working during the Christmas holiday season.
The firm, according to the source, is familiar to RMS staff and has been providing food to the company, but things took a different turn on Tuesday when the buffet they prepared reacted negatively with some employees.
“There are those who were adversely affected and were admitted in critical condition. Others had a mild reaction and have been allowed to return to work or leave for home, “said the source.
The cause of the contamination is yet to be established. “It was a buffet so you can’t really tell what exactly caused the problem,” the source added.
