Kyambogo University: Addressing journalist at the University premises, Vice Chancellor Prof. Elly Katunguka revealed that a total number of 12800 will be conferred upon academic awards in different disciplines from the 7th to the 9th of November, 2022.
“This is the largest number of ever graduated in the history of the University. This constitute of 6,239 males and 5,841 females”. Prof. Katunguka.
“This comes at a time when the University has just installed a new Chancellor, Prof. John Yakobo Okedi on 9th/November, 2022 after his appointment by president Museveni replacing Prof. John Ssebuwufu who served between 2014 and 2022”. He added.
Prof. Katunguka revealed that this year’s graduation will be largely physical after students all over their learning centers sought so and the University senate confided. He however informed that for those who will not be able to make it to the venue, can follow live on NTV Uganda, on Zoom and University You Tube.
He clarified that throughout the 3-day graduation, will be no lectures within the campus therefore ongoing students can stay in their residences or at home till the event is done.
“We have confirmed that Minister for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo will be the Chief Guest on delegation of Education Minister and Uganda’s First Lay Janet Museveni who we had officially invited in the first place”. Prof. Katunguka clarified.

He went to inform that there are some students that did not appear on the graduation list which could be as a result of retakes undone or results coming in late. “Senate will review to find out if there is any student who fully satisfied all requirements and missed out. After graduation, they will be issued with transcripts and graduated the other year”-Prof. Katunguka.
Head of 18th Graduation security, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Katungwensi Anatoli- Regional Police Commander, Kampala Metropolitan Police- East urged graduands to guide their parents as they come to the city in that they don’t get lost.
“In a bid to avoid congestion at the graduation venue, graduands should come with a limited number of people especially parents or guardians at least two and both graduands and parents must come with stickers and invitation cards.
He added that if possible, parents may not come with heavy bags and electronic gadgets like cameras and others which may take security long to check as well members of press have been urged to be cleared early for the smooth running of the event.
