Police at Kira Road have caged a 28-year-old guard attached to the Saracen security company for attempting to sell 31 bullets for 2000 shillings each and hiring out guns.
The suspect, Okello Isaac, a resident of Gogonya, Kabalagala in Makindye Division, now faces charges of selling ammunition and illegal possession of Government stores. He is currently detained at Ntinda Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
Okello was netted on Tuesday in the process of selling his merchandise to one Okumu, who had already alerted police that the suspect was selling bullets and magazines at a cheap price. The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, told our reporter Minah Nalule that police officers at the scene of the crime recovered SMG magazines and bullets being sold at 100,000 UGX and 20,000 UGX each, respectively.
Onyango adds that a search was also conducted at Okello’s residence in Gogonya where different parts of a riffle including Bionets, Pistol Magazines, SMG Magazines, and other gun parts – were recovered.
