Kalangala, June,16th, 2026: NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, has this morning launched a series of grassroots mobilization activities in Kalangala District, beginning with an engagement meeting involving boda boda riders under their umbrella association, _Boda Boda Kalangala Ku Museveni_, in Kalangala Town Council.

The meeting marks the start of an intensive campaign spearheaded by Hon. Kasolo in support of the NRM flagbearer for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election, Idah Nabayiga. The party team is rallying support for the candidate ahead of the June 24, 2026 polls.
Addressing the riders, Hon. Kasolo urged them to use their networks across the islands to sensitize voters on the NRM’s development agenda and to mobilize turnout on polling day.

Bujumba Constituency MP, William Lugoloobi, also addressed the meeting and called on the boda boda community to massively rally voters behind Nabayiga. He said unity behind the NRM candidate would enable the district to reclaim and complete abandoned projects such as the Aqua Park and the Palm Oil project.
The Kalangala District Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli. Meanwhile, the NRM flagbearer, Idah Nabayiga, is currently camped at Ggunga Landing Site in Buggala Parish, Mazinga Sub-county, where she is directly engaging fishing communities and residents on her campaign message.

With less than three months to polling day, NRM leaders say the Kalangala campaign will prioritize door-to-door mobilization, landing site engagements, and issue-based messaging focused on service delivery and continuity of government programs.
