Kampala, Uganda: The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing air quality challenges in the city, during a meeting with a visiting delegation from Dhaka City, Bangladesh, under the Partnership for Healthy Cities.

Speaking at the Lord Mayor’s Parlor, KCCA Executive Director, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, highlighted the city’s air quality concerns and the initiatives being implemented to mitigate them.

Buzeki outlined KCCA’s strategies, including expanding air quality monitoring, greening the city, enforcing vehicle inspections, paving roads to reduce dust, and investing in non-motorized transport.

Residents are encouraged to plant trees, adopt greener choices, and become air quality champions in their communities Buzeki also urged citizens to avoid harmful practices like burning garbage, which compromise public health and the city’s well-being.

The KCCA ED stressed that clean air is a shared responsibility and that collective efforts can make Kampala a healthier, greener, and safer city for all.

The partnership with Dhaka City aims to share best practices and expertise in addressing urban health challenges.
