Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Premier Launches Empango Run As 31st Coronation Nears

Hoima, Uganda: The Prime Minister of the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi, officially launched the Empango Run yesterday at the Kingdom’s administrative offices.

The launch included the unveiling of running kits and the opening of opportunities for additional partners to join and support the initiative.

During the event, the Prime Minister extended his gratitude to the sponsors — Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), Jonard Events, National Forestry Authority (NFA), HB Hotel, Golden Castle Hotel, Enviro Serve Organisation, and Oil Land Real Estates — for their generous contributions towards making the Empango Run a success.

He emphasized that the event’s primary objective is to raise funds for the purchase of a cancer screening machine (Colposcope) for Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.

Owek. Byakutaga appealed to more partners and sponsors to come on board, highlighting the importance of collective effort in strengthening healthcare across the Kingdom.

He revealed that His Majesty, the Omukama (RA), directed that every coronation anniversary must feature a fundraising initiative aimed at improving health services within Bunyoro-Kitara.

In line with this directive, the Prime Minister outlined various hospitals across the Kingdom that have benefited from previous support. These include:

*Kagadi Hospital*–delivery beds,*Hoima Regional Referral Hospital*–two oxygen concentrators,*Buliisa Health Centre*–an ultrasound scanner, *Kiryandongo Hospital*–a blood count machine, *Masindi Hospital*–oxygen concentrator, *Kikuube Hospital* – an incubator, *Kibaale Health Centre* – two delivery beds and two sterilizers

This year’s support will focus on Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, with the funds earmarked for the purchase of a Colposcope to aid in cancer screening across the region.

The Prime Minister further noted that if sufficient funds are raised, the Kingdom also intends to support the rehabilitation of the plumbing system of the theatre block and purchase of a water pump at the hospital.

The Prime Minister concluded by informing the general public that BKK leadership and changes in administration are not determined any other individual but are purely and solely the prerogative of the Omukama, contrary to what some individuals are claiming, including writing letters to ministries and sponsors aiming to sabotage BKK’s progress and the 31st coronation anniversary.

The Mayor Hoima East Division Mr. Bosco Muhanuzi appreciated the BKK premier for the transformation in the kingdom that has enabled a number of partners, and pledged that as Hoima East division they’ll support the Corrosion anniversary as usual with bigger energies.

Security for the upcoming 31st Coronation Anniversary celebrations was assured by the security team led by Hoima City Deputy RCC Mr. Kashaya James and the District Police Commander.

They pledged full support to ensure the events proceed smoothly as a tribute to His Majesty the Omukama.

The Kingdom’s Chief Administrative Secretary, Mr. Alex Katusabe Abooki, officially invited sponsors to participate, and they pledged to continue working closely with the Kingdom to achieve the noble cause.
