Bugangaizi East, Kakumiro: In a bid to address growing concerns and misinformation surrounding the Gurama Forest Reserve, Hon. Agaba Aisa Black, the Member of Parliament for Bugangaizi East, has stepped forward to clarify the status of the reserve and reassure residents of her unwavering support.

Speaking at a well-attended gathering at Karangara Trading Centre in Kibijo Sub County on Thursday 15th May 2025, Hon. Aisa emphasized her commitment to fighting for the rights of her constituents. The legislator revealed that she had submitted a report to the Ministry of Lands, advocating for the degazettement of Gurama Forest Reserve to accommodate the settled population.

“I am fighting tirelessly to ensure that the report is considered, and the area is degazetted to provide a safe haven for my people,” Hon. Aisa emphasized. “As your MP, it is my duty to tell you the truth. Gurama is still a forest reserve, but I will fight for your rights until it is degazetted into a settlement.”

Hon. Aisa’s remarks aim to dispel the confusion and uncertainty that has been plaguing residents of Karangara Parish and surrounding areas. Some self-seekers had been spreading false information, claiming that Gurama has settlement status, and advising residents to demand land titles to confirm their occupancy.

The Gurama Forest Reserve, gazetted in the early 1990s under Kibaale district, has been a subject of controversy, with residents facing possible eviction in the past. Hon. Aisa’s intervention seeks to address the historical injustices and provide a lasting solution to the plight of the residents.

During her visit to Karangara Parish, Hon. Aisa met with electorates from five cells, including Kitekye, Kagunga, Katogo, Buhumuriro, and Karangara. Her engagement with the community demonstrates her dedication to addressing their concerns and fighting for their rights.

The MP’s efforts have been met with appreciation from the residents, who have expressed gratitude for her commitment to their welfare. As the legislative representative of Bugangaizi East, Hon. Aisa’s actions demonstrate her responsibility to protect and promote the interests of her constituents.

Her stance on the issue has earned her the trust and confidence of the community, who look forward to a favorable outcome.

“I am already tackling the pressing issue in this place, which is securing occupancy therefore I request you to trust me again for this forthcoming term so that I can conclude what I started.” she appealed.

As the matter continues to unfold, residents of Karangara Parish and surrounding areas remain hopeful that their MP’s efforts will yield a positive outcome, securing their future and providing them with the security of tenure they so desperately need.
