Mourning engulfs family od Dr. Martin Jerome Okec Aliker, a distinguished figure and businessman who has died at the age 95 today at around 9 am.
He is mostly known for having set up the first black-owned dental practice in Kampala and has also been investing in Uganda’s white-collar businesses since 1961.
Martin held various roles as a dental surgeon, entrepreneur, and community leader. He served as a senior adviser to the President of Uganda and was involved with numerous Ugandan companies.
Additionally, he was the chancellor of Victoria University Uganda and played a significant role as the founding chancellor of Gulu University.
Born on October 21, 1928, in Gulu District, Aliker received his education at Gulu High School and Kings College Budo before pursuing higher education at Makerere University.
He later studied political science at Northwestern University in the United States on a scholarship, followed by dental surgery studies, also at Northwestern.
His academic achievements included being named a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
