Kampala, Uganda: The Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Uganda, King Caesar Mulenga, has delivered UGX 250 million to cover the cost of all windows for the new All Saints Cathedral Nakasero.
The UGX 250 million was pledged by King Mulenga during the 50th wedding anniversary of former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and Canon Jacqueline Mbabazi, held at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero.
Mulenga confirmed the fulfillment of the pledge on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, on his official X handle.
“As Rt Hon Amama and Canon Jacqueline Mbabazi celebrated 50 years in marriage, I pledged to contribute UGX 250 million towards the purchase of all windows of the new All Saints cathedral, Nakasero. Yesterday, I delivered my pledge to the construction committee,” King Mulenga said.
In a fundraising campaign initiated and led by the Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, he appealed to people to contribute towards the completion of the cathedral.
In response to Kazimba’s appeal, Thomas Tayebwe, the Deputy Speaker of the 11th Parliament, pledged UGX 53 million, and Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, pledged UGX 10 million.
Mulenga commended Kazimba for conducting a prolific campaign and Amama Mbabazi for steering the mobilization.
According to the cathedral construction committee, more than UGX 10 billion is required to complete the construction project.
All Saints Cathedral, based in Nakasero, Kampala City, has continued to receive church construction contributions from well-wishers, including prominent politicians, religious leaders, and members of the Christian community, in a bid to complete the ongoing construction activities at the site.
