Four-time presidential aspirant and former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Col. (rtd) Dr. Kiiza Besigye will face the party’s disciplinary committee over engaging in activities said to be hostile to the party.
Besigye, together with other party members under the FDC Katonga faction, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, conducted grassroot elections at the village level on Saturday.
The elected village leadership are expected to later elect the subsequent leadership at parish, districts and constituencies up to the National Executive Committee members.
However, the leadership at FDC headquarters at Najanankumbi in Kampala, has dismissed the exercise saying the party already finalised with elections at all levels in October.
Party deputy president for Eastern region Margret Wokuli Madanda on Monday said whatever is going on in the guise of elections is a scam and whoever is involved will face the party’s long arm of the law.
