Makindye Sabagabo: During the presentation of budget framework paper by councillors together with various stakeholders in an engagement meeting held at the municipality headquarters they proposed that their priorities will be in 4 main sectors of social economic development namely Roads , health, Education and administration to help in improving the status of Makindye Sabagabo residents .
When all goes well Roads will be located Ugx 8.7bn, Health 5bn, Education 3bn and administration of 1.2bn.
During the presentation of the budget framework paper, Makindye sabagabo Municipality Mayor Godfrey Ssemwanga Kabuzi revealed that funds for the education sector is aviled it will be used mainly used to construct teachers quarters (Houses) of the 5 Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools of Busabala primary , Bunamwaya church of uganda primary ,Lubugumu UMEA ,Kigo Prison primary school and St. Gyaviira Lweza primary school as well as fencing kigo Prison primary school for security reasons.
“All this intervention is aimed at improving Education sector in the municipality and enable teachers be at school 24/7 since currently they travel long distance to school” says Mayor.
Kabuzi disclosed that they are also planning to increase on allowances for government employees to enable them report at work early because currently many reach late at work due to little pay.
He adds that this week on Tuesday 15th /November/2022 at 8am minister of Finance planning and social development (MGLSD) Hon.Matia Kasaijja will pay a visit at municipality headquarters to see the plan of funds which the municipality is requesting for as well as monitoring the accountability of the funds which was given to them in the Financial year 2022/23 Budget.

Article 197 of the constitution and section 79 of this Act mandates the creation of a Municipal Council as a Lower local Government of the District in which it is situated.
Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality was established by the Government of Uganda in July 2015 by resolution of the Parliament of Uganda. It is the only Municipality in Uganda that was elevated from a Sub-county status to Municipal status without becoming a Town board or Town council first. This Municipality is one of the four (4) municipalities in Wakiso District.
Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Uganda with an estimated population of 360,000(three hundred sixty thousand people) with the highest percentage being youths. It is the highest densely populated urban centre in Uganda.
Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality is made up of 3 Divisions, 8 Wards and 55 zones.
