Police in Nakasongola have arrested one Peter Mayanja for allegedly defiling eight pupils, aged between 7 and 13 years, at Ekitangala Primary School in Kakooge Sub-county, Nakasongola District. The police preliminary report indicates that Mayanja, who was a teacher at the school, committed the said acts between 2023 and July 2024. Savannah Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Sam Twineamaizima, confirmed the arrest, saying Mayanja was staying with the pupils at his home, located within the school, but complaints about his actions were reported to the school administration on July 24. The Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board July/August 2024 examination series kick off Monday, August 5, 2024, across the country. Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale city has refuted allegations that it banned the Scripture Union and issued warnings to Christian students to forcefully embrace Islam.
