Kabalega Secondary School in Masindi district is seeking one billion shillings to reconstruct the dormitory, which was burnt by striking students in 2010. The call was made by the school’s head teacher, Andrew Tumwesige, during the Kabalega Secondary School Old Boys’ Association (KASSOBA) three-day retreat at the school recently. One person has been knocked dead this afternoon at Kyarushesha trading centre in Kyangwali sub-county, Kikuube district. The incident happened at around midday. According to Bright Ahumuza, the LC1 Chairperson, Kyarushesha, the yet to be identified man aged between 20 and 25, has been a water seller in the area. Ugandans have been left cursing after the tax collecting body in Uganda, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), revealed how they have increased the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax by 10%. According to a notice released by URA, it has been revealed that effective October 4th, this change has been in existence. It’s, however not only PAYE that has been increased but also the Value Added Tax (VAT). Muhammad Kabanda, a vendor in Owino market has accused Old Kampala Hospital of harvesting his kidney without his consent. Muhammad was paraded by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago on Tuesday. According to Muhammad, he was involved in a motorcycle accident along Lukuli in May 2022. He sustained head injuries and was admitted to Old Kampala Hospital. The Katikiro of Buganda, Peter Mayiga, has called out to the government to engage coffee farmers in value addition. He says this motivates them to do better in producing coffee of more quality. Security has rounded up 15 people in Kiruma sub-county, Mubende district, and taken them to the Ebola isolation center for screening and testing. The 15 are said to be members of the same family who had close contact with a deceased but had resisted requests by the surveillance team to test.
