Kampala, Uganda: Kampala socialite Charles Olimu alias Sipapa has asked the court to direct the prosecution to return his property confiscated during his arrest. Sipapa and his wife Shamirah Nakiyemba appeared on Thursday at the Chief Magistrates Court in Makindye on charges of aggravated robbery. Kampala, Uganda:  The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has recommended a special audit in the maintenance of the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. This recommendation was made in a report presented by the Committee Chairperson, Joel Ssenyonyi on the Auditor General’s report on Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) for Financial Year 2020/2021. Kampala, Uganda: Uganda’s tertiary  institutions’ regulator- The National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) has warned that private universities without full charter risk closure if it clocks March before they apply for full charters. Currently, the country has only 11 private chartered institutions among these including Jinja road-based Victoria University. Kampala, Uganda:  Legislators have urged government to consider merging Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) and the New Vision following reports of non-performance. MPs made this proposal while scrutinizing the budgetary allocations to UBC for the Financial Year 2023/2024, arguing that government should not continue injecting money into an entity that they said has consistently underperformed. “UBC is not living up to the expectations of the citizens.
