A 30-year-old man who attempted to kill his 70-year-old mother, for the fourth time has fled the village. Amos Opio, a resident of Kabuki village, in Malongo sub-county in Mayuge district, allegedly locked his mother Florence Asio inside her bedroom on Thursday and torched the house. Residents broke into the house and managed to save Asio before the fire could spread to other parts of the house. The Uganda Prisons Service has reported that three prisoners were injured in a crash between a prison bus and a logging truck in Mityana district on August 31, 2023. Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine provided details of the incident in a statement. He said the crash occurred at around 5:00pm as the prison bus was returning from court duties.
