Two suspects, Mugisha James Jeff and Maviri Godfrey, were arrested and arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrates Court this afternoon by the Statehouse anti corruption unit and police for defrauding a Korean investor of over 1 billion Ugandan shillings. The accused were charged with obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to commit a felony. They have been remanded until October 25th, 2023. The police have arrested the suspected boyfriend of Rashidah Nakaddu, a student at Buganda Royal Institute who was killed last in her rented room in Nabweru, Wakiso district. The arrest occurred after the police discovered him receiving treatment at Rubaga Hospital. Rashidah Nakaddu was killed by stabbing allegedly by her boyfriend, who had paid her a visit at her place in Nabweru Kibwa, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district last week. Health authorities in Kenya are investigating an unidentified illness after more than 90 school girls were admitted to hospital. The students from Eregi Girls High School, located in the west of the country, had difficulties walking and symptoms of knee pain. In the early hours of September 30th, officers from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) received a tip about a smuggling operation underway on Lake Victoria. Assorted phones were reportedly being transported by boat from Tanzania to enter Uganda illegally. URA immediately swung into action, deploying officers both on land and water to monitor the situation.
