Residents of Kitezi area have woken up in terrifying horror as scores of people are feared dead following a Saturday morning tragedy that hit the Kampala Capital City Authority – KCCA Landfill in Kiteezi where a heap of garbage buried houses, people and livestock. The landfill which processes about 1,500 tons of waste daily lost its structural integrity following heavy rains on Friday night leading to partial collapse. KCCA together with local authorities have already swung into action to rescue the buried people and livestock. Former Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence ( CMI) boss Maj Gen Abel Kandiho has been appointed as President Museveni’s senior presidential advisor in charge of classified operations. The appointment was announced on Friday. Gen Kandiho was in May recalled from the police where he had served as the Chief of Joint Staff for two years and was appointed a special presidential advisor.
