Kabale University fraternity were in dismay on Friday December 8th 2023 after a shocking death of the their student during the exam.
The deceased has been identified as Audrey Nayebare who was persuing a Bachelor’s of Arts in Social sciences and a resident of Kicwamba Parish, Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri district.
The deceased is an old girl of Kashenyi Secondary School in Ruhinda Sub County of Rukungiri district.
Information from the University has it that Nayebare, a year one student at Kabale University while in her exam mid way, she lost consciousness and was taken outside the examination room for first aid, but could not improve.
She was then rushed to Makanga, Kabale Regional Referral hospital but the condition instead worsened until on Friday evening when she was given further referral but ended up dying before she could be moved.
Dr. Mesharch Katusiimeh, Associate Professor Governance & Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences where Ayebare belonged to at Kabale University described the deceased as active and always inquisitive in issues she would fail to understand during lectures.
A note from the University noted that “For students who have been with her in class, it is a scary experience, very traumatic and painful to see a colleague in such a state in an examination room”.
“But that is life. We will all die at some point. We are all passengers in life. Her death reminds us that in all we do, let’s do it for the glory of God” added the note.
“We thank God for her life. She has probably accomplished what God wanted in her. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of your colleague” some of her colleagues at the campus wrote.
By press time, burial arrangements were yet to be communicated as the body was still in the hospital mortuary pending a postermortem examination to ascertain the likely cause of her death.
