KASESE: The Former Minister of defense Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga has called for collaborated efforts among stakeholders in the fight against school drop outs of learners in Kasese district.
Dr. Kiyonga sounded the message over the weekend at St. Raphael Vocational Nyamighera Secondary School in Nyakiyumbu Sub County Bukonzo west where he was speaking as chief guest for a joint fund raising ceremony for the c St. Raphael Voc Nyamighera and St. Matia Mulumba Secondary Schools.
Dr. Kiyonga highlighted that government has given a platform for private sector to initiate schools on addition to universal primary and secondary education but school drops is still on increase.
Dr. Kiyonga, who also doubles as the Kasese NRM Chairperson challenged leaders to formulate bye-laws that will guide school going children to stay and complete their studies?
Hon. Jetress Ithungu, the Female District Councilor for Nyakiyumbu and Bwera Sub Counties in a separate interview said that much emphasis for girl child education is still required in order to come up with responsible and supportive mothers in future.
Meanwhile Sunday Peter Kakule the Nyakiyumbu Sub County LC III Chairperson advised parents and guardians to educate their children in school that charge affordable fees.
Kakule challenged school managements to control the rate of chasing learners for fees but rather deal with parents.
