Why Some Pistol Owners In Lira Are Publicly Shooting At will.
LIRA: Police spokesperson for North Kyoga Region SP Jimmy Patrick Okema has warned the general public about misuse of firearms espicially pistols.
The territorial police in Lira-City CPS are holding one Erach Bosco Alias” PITE YELA” on allegations of attempted murder by shooting of two victims identified as; 1. Atine Felix aged 37-years-old. 2. Ogwang Kenneth aged- 22- years-old.
According to the statement issued by SP Jimmy Patrick Okema,it’s alleged that on the 23rd,October 2023 at FEROZ PUB along Oyite Ojok Lane, while drinking ,they picked up a quarrel and both moved out of the pub to where they had parked their cars.
Erach Bosco Alias ‘Pite Yela’ drew a pistol and short at the victims who both sustained injuries. Atine Felix immediately rushed to Lira-City CPS where he reported a case of attempted murder by shooting before proceeding to the main Hospital for treatment while Ogwang Kenneth was rushed straight for treatment, the Suspect also went to Lira City West Division and reported a case of assault.
However, he was later called back at the station, disarmed and taken to CPS where a case of attempted murder was registered. Preliminary findings indicates issues relating to struggling for a lady who works at Feroz Pub is the caused of the disagreement.
The case is being investigated closely as we compiled the file for submission to Resident City State Attorney for perusal and legal advice. We want to advise very strongly those holding pistol legally to know the circumstances why they applied and were issues with the pistols, otherwise they risked being withdrawn.
The incident has caused panic in Lira and drinking places since revealers are living in fear of those holding guns. One of a pub owners who preferred anonymity, wants security officials in North Kyoga to monitor all the happening places in Lira City and beyond.
