OBONGI: The woman MP for Obongi district hon maneno Zumura has appealed to the president’s office to remind H.E General Yoweri Museveni Kaguta on electricity pledge.
Hon Maneno Zumura has tasked the Obongi Resident District Commissioner Hasaka Samuel Mpimbasa to remind the President about the pledge of electricity for Obongi district that he made recently.
She noted that when President Museveni visited Obongi district on 13th,April this year ,he promised the people of Obongi electricty but she said no effort has been made to fulfil the pledge up to date.
Zumura told the RDC Obongi district Hasaka Samuel Mpimbasa that Obongi district urgently need electricity which is a few kilometres and can be connected to the people of her district within a week.
Zumura noted that in April,2023 when his Excellency President General Yoweri Museveni Kaguta visited Obongi district, he pledged that electricity will be connected to Obongi district and up to now nothing is seen in the district.
The woman MP said the people following up presidential pledge must follow up with office of the president so that services are delivered to the Wanahinci in time.
She therefore asked the RDC Obongi Samuel mpimbaza Hashaka to remind the President about the pledge.
The MP who was speaking at the commissioning of Dongo market in Itula sub-county bon Wednesday,said her constituents have suffered top much due to lack of electricity.
She wondered why Obongi remains among the only two districts without power in Uganda.
Zumula Maneno observed that it is very easy to connect electricity to Obongi district because it’s a matter of connecting it from neighbouring Yumbe district which is just about ten kilometres away.
In response the Obongi RDC Samuel mpimbaza Hashaka accepted to follow up the Presidential pledge.
District Commissioner ( RDC) Obongi promised the MP that he will do all it takes to remind the president about electricity pledge so that the people of Obongi begin enjoying the fruit of NRM government.
In a related development Hasaka said people should take the issue of of PDM with a lot of seriousness so that all the PDM members stick to their respective Saccos and enterprises they sellected.
