LANGO: Otuke The territorial police in Otuke District , North Kyoga Region are investigating circumstances under which a prison Wardress was murdered.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, police in North Kyoga Region have started investigating the death of a prison staff identified as Wadress Angu Scovia aged 52- years-old attached to Otuke government Prison.
SP Jimmy Patrick Okema in a press statement on Sunday evening stated that,this follows a report registered by one,Mr Otyanga Walter a -53 -year-old officer in charge Otuke Prison in Otuke District.
However it is alleged that on the 14th October 2023, the deceased left her home which is located in the prisons barracks and proceeded to undisclosed destination and on Sunday morning of the 15th October 2023, her body was discovered dead at Otuke Town Council compound next to Otuke prison, in Otuke district.
Police have visited crime scene with a full team of police officers from Otuke police station, it was documented and some exhibits recovered including ,shoes, underpants believed to be for the suspects all at the scene of crime, an indication that the suspect could have raped the officer before killing her instantly.
Okema stated that the scene has been preserved and K9 ( canine) taken and led the police to the arrest of three (3) suspects.
Meanwhile,the items recovered is believed to be for the main suspect who is on the run and has been identified as Omara Oscar. Police regret and highly condemn this act as a very unfortunate incident.
Members of the general public, relatives of the deceased and prison’s staff have been assured that efforts to have the main suspect apprehended is ongoing.
Police called for calmness and support to have the suspect apprehended if he is sited anywhere.
