LIRA, LANGO SUB REGION: Thousands of farmers from all parts of Northern Uganda are have began reporting for the Agricultural Trade Show at Lira,in Mayor’s garden on Friday.
All is set by the management of Agriculture trade show Uganda for great Lango sub-region farmers’ Trade and Food expo ahead of advance world food Day celebration that will be celebrated in Lango.
The trade show was opened by the deputy mayor ,Hon Alwedo Rebecca among several dignitaries who attended the opening ceremony at the Mayor’s garden.
Mr Aroma Patrick, farmers’ representative at Uganda Agriculture show told the media that about 100,000 farmers are expected to turn up for the trade show.
According to Molly Acen ,the secretary agricultural show Uganda,who spoke to the media from even the onset, saying Farmer’s trade and Food expo 2023 is geared towards celebrating World Food Day.
Farmers are encouraged in their cooperative society and mainly all farmers from all the districts in Lango sub-region including produce dealers among others are encouraged to come for the trade show according to the top organisers of the so interesting event.
The great Lango farmers’ expo that started on the 13thwill run until the 16th October,2023 at Mayor’s garden in Lira City.
Many political leaders and technical leadersare expected to be gracing the trade show in Lira City-Mayor’s garden. The theme for this year is ‘”Water is life, Water is Food,Leave No One behind ”
The district production office espially for Lira district will also have their tent.
Several technology will be demonstrated example , training farmers about artificial insemination,soil testing and more about the Aagricultural extension Workers.
Wetonyi Joel ,head of marketing and communication Agriculture show Uganda said the theme for this year world food Day celebration is chosen in line with Food and Agricultural Organisation which is part of the United Nations.
Of course there are new technologies wherby a person can grow crops without soil. If a farmer in western Uganda can use this technology why can’t the farmjmers in Lango Sub-region use the same technology.
” we aim at promoting the same and good use of water not depending on the two seasons.By evening on Friday ,several tents and displays were seen around as farmers from all walks of life kept on arriving at the venue.
