Police in Wobulenzi are investigating an incident of vandalism and disruption at a church in Luwero District. The alleged attack occurred on Sunday, October 10th at around noon at Katikamu Church of Uganda.
Sam Twiinemaziima, spokesperson for the Regional Police, confirmed authorities received a report about the disturbing events. Preliminary information suggests that during a church service, a group of individuals entered and assaulted the congregation.
Mr. Twiinemaziima said the motive for the incident remains unclear. He noted that police responded swiftly after being notified by church leadership. Four suspects were taken into custody at the scene.
Those detained have been identified as: 29-year-old Droma Joel, a watchman from Kalerwe Market village in Kampala’s Kawempe Division; 23-year-old Ronnie Bakaki, a casual worker from Mambule zone in Kawempe; 21-year-old taxi driver Moses Mugambe from Ssekanusu village in Wobulenzi town; and 25-year-old casual worker Owen Twesigye from Kalelwe Market village in Kawempe.
Criminal charges of trespassing and malicious damage to property have been filed against the suspects. Investigations by the Wobulenzi Police Station continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the disturbing incident.
