Ugand’s National Carrier has concluded plans for possible Commencement of services to Mumbai and Lagos officially in October 2023 after securing landing slots at the two destination.
The plans which were launched in August this year will come true on 11th October when the first ever direct flight from Entebbe International Airport to Mumbai city in 40years happen and Lagos will be 19th October 2023.
Kabbyanga Godfrey Minister of State for Information, Communication Technology & National Guidance, while addressing journalists at media center today described the development as a great stride for the country.
Kabyanga says the population of Indians in Uganda is wonderful which means doing business will be easy and it has been difficult without direct flights because some businessmen don’t want disturbancies.
” With education is going to be a walk over because many Ugandans go for studies in different universities in India so direct flights will be hopeful in reducing travelling time by half from 12 hours to 6 hours and there are going to be three fights every week, Monday, Wenseday and Saturdays”, kabyanga said
He adds it’s the same with Lagos Nigeria because many Ugandans stay and have businesses in Lagos as well as Nigerians in Kampala so movement Will be quick.
Meanwhile Fred Bamwesigye the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority has revealed that these two direct flights are blessings in disguise because now both Mumbai and Lagos business people have direct flights ,can efficiently transport thier goods to Indiana and Nigerian markets respectively yet Indiana and Nigerian companies can also explore Ugandan Markets
