A senior Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldier has been charged and remanded at the General Court Martial in Makindye over forgery allegations.
Major Moses Muganga Kahebwa, 53, who is residing at Bombo Barracks and attached to the Engineering Brigade, appeared before a seven-member court panel led by Brigadier General Freeman Robert Mugabe. He pled not guilty to two counts of forgery and uttering a false document to a fellow UPDF soldier.
The prosecution informed the court that investigations into the matter were complete. Major Kahebwa was then remanded until October 17, 2023.
It is alleged that on March 15, 2023 in Kampala City, the suspect forged a memorandum of sale of a motor vehicle registration number UBL 261E, a Vox Wagon, purportedly issued by Imran Trading Uganda Ltd with intent to defraud. He is also accused of forging a receipt voucher dated March 17, 2022, also purportedly issued by the same company, and presenting the false documents to D/SP Amuko Prisca Flavia.
Major Kahebwa will remain remanded until his next court appearance to face the forgery charges.
