Kampala, Uganda:Â As the Senior One selection process gets underway, Uganda Bookshop has witnessed a significant surge in demand for new curriculum materials from teachers and head teachers. According to Tusasibwe Stella, Sales Manager at Uganda Bookshop, the company has brought a wide range of materials to cater to the needs of educators, including new curriculum books, literature texts, and essential resources such as the constitution and teachers’ code of conduct.
Stella noted that the initial response to the new curriculum was lukewarm, with many teachers struggling to understand the changes. However, as the curriculum has been rolled out and teachers have received training and support, the demand for relevant materials has increased significantly. “The turn-up of teachers is really good,” Stella said. “Since morning, I’ve received many of them enquiring about the types of books we have and the publishers we work with.”
The increased demand for new curriculum materials is a positive sign, indicating that teachers are now more confident in their understanding of the new curriculum. This, in turn, is expected to have a positive impact on the learning experience for students. As Stella observed, “Now that the teachers really understand the new curriculum, the turn-up is good, and we hope our children will benefit more since the teachers are now keen to buy the books and the head teachers.”
Uganda Bookshop’s presence at the Senior One selection event is a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting educators and students in Uganda. By providing access to essential resources and materials, the company is playing a vital role in ensuring that teachers are equipped to deliver high-quality education to their students.
As the education sector in Uganda continues to evolve, it is clear that Uganda Bookshop will remain a trusted partner for teachers, head teachers, and students alike. With its wide range of materials and resources, the company is well-positioned to support the needs of educators and learners in the years to come.
