The conflicts in the opposition Forum for Democratic Change have further escalated which has prompted the party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi to sack seven of the Katonga leaning National Executive Committee members who he had elected in acting capacity for absconding from duties.
In a letter dated 8th, August, 2023 to Hon. James Otto, the chairperson FDC Disciplinary committee, the FDC president Amuriat instituted disciplinary cases against the Kampala Lord Mayor Hon. Elias Lukwago, the acting Deputy president Buganda, Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda, Secretary for Information and publicity, Hon. Kennedy Okello, acting Deputy Secretary for presidency, Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa acting secretary for Mobilization, Dr. George Okello Ekwaro, acting Deputy secretary for mobilization, Mr. Samueal Makhoba, w’mugenyi acting deputy secretary for international and regional affairs and Mr. Amon Ayesigome Rubarema Secretary for Works and Transport.
Amuriat who proceeded under article 28(3)b(iii) and acting in consultation with the party working committee requested Hon. Otto to convene a meeting of the committee to hear and dispose cases of hostility towards the party, failure to execute and absconding from duty for the seven members.
“Once the proceedings commence I will be available to provide details of the party’s case against each of the accused.
In the same way, Amuriat said that in the meantime he will be making appointments on acting basis to offices held by the mentioned seven member. Adding that apart from Hon. SSemujju and Mr. Ayesigome who were elected by the National Delegates Conference, the rest were appointed by him in acting basis.
