Kampala, Uganda: Early this month, there were media reports indicating that the legislator was part of the group that registered customary land into freehold in Musaijamukuru and Mukabara-all villages in Buhaguzi East Constituency in Kikuube District.
The incident directly puts hundreds of households on latter areas at a risk of eviction.
Last weekend, Hon. Aseera told media that he has never involved himself is such a saga that puts livelihood of the people he is supposed to protect at stake.
He revealed that two people who included Muhumuza Job and Nyabongo Charles Ochaki included his name in a dirty game to secure a land title that covered 127.9950 hectares at plot 172, Block 22 at Musaijamukuru. Reports still indicated that he was also involved in the title acquisition on 297.6640 hectares of land at plot 196, Block 22 in Mukabara together with Ayebazibwe Patson and Nyabongo Charles Ochaki
He indicated that these elements used a National Identification number NIN of Hon. Stephen Aseera Itaza but forged his passport photo and signature.
Genesis of the matter.
On 14th October, 2022, Kikuube District Resident District Commissioner wrote to Hon. Stephen Aseera Itaza informing him of the complaints from residents of Musaijamukuru A, B and Kibingo regarding his involvement and other two in acquisition of the land on three villages and threatened to evict them.
At receipt of the letter, on the same day, Hon. Aseera wrote to the Secretary-Kikuube District Land Board requesting her to avail him with any information or documents regarding the said land.
The secretary Land Board wrote back to him saying the board was never involved in such registration because it was not yet constituted to execute such, she referred him to Hoima District Land Board which at the moment is still responsible for land registration in Kikuube.
Hon. Aseera revealed that, he quickly reported the matter to Office of the Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament as his direct supervisor, Inspector General of Police, State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Director Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
He requested Ministry of lands to cancel title deeds since his name and NIN Number had been used without his authorization-entering him into a mess. He urged that this would help rekindle hope of hundreds of households that have been living at a risk of eviction.
At the mercy of his plea, the cancellation notice was issued, published in the renown Daily Monitor Newspaper and New Vision-to run for 21 days as provided by the law and the hearing date for will be 30th November, 2022 before responsible authorities can cancel the title deed in relation to his application.
He vowed to lawfully battle with those who involved his name and NIN Number is such a fraudulent process in order for them to account for their actions/inactions.
He implored the people of Buhaguzi East particularly those living in areas in question to stay calm and let the law take its course.
