Kampala, Uganda: According to the Minister of Health, Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the hospital is now 45% complete, with construction having reached the sixth floor. With this revelation, it means that Uganda’s healthcare sector is set to receive a significant boost with the ongoing construction of the infrastructure.
Speaking during the NRM Manifesto week at the Office of the Prime Minister, Minister Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the country’s healthcare infrastructure. The Lubowa National Specialized hospital is a key project in this effort, designed to provide specialized medical care to Ugandans and reduce the need for referrals abroad.
Once complete, the hospital will offer a range of specialized services, including cardiac and cancer care, neurosurgery, and orthopedics. The facility will also feature state-of-the-art equipment and technology, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
The Minister’s update on the hospital’s construction progress is a welcome development for Ugandans, who have been eagerly awaiting the completion of this critical healthcare facility. With the project on track, Uganda is poised to take a major leap forward in its healthcare capabilities. The Lubowa National Specialized Hospital, also known as the International Specialized Hospital of Uganda, is a significant development in Uganda’s healthcare sector. *However, the project was expected to take two years to complete, with a groundbreaking ceremony performed by President Yoweri Museveni in June 2017.* Therefore, it’s worth noting that the hospital project has been a subject of discussion, with concerns raised about its cost, funding, and potential impact on Uganda’s healthcare system.
Regarding the hospital’s design, it’s planned to have nine buildings, including a 260+ bed hospital, an outpatient department, housing for doctors and staff, conference facilities, a hotel, and a shopping center.
