The Greater Masaka based Anti-Corruption network has come out to advise Ugandans seeking amnesty for remanded Ugandan MPs in line with corruption cases to distance selves from the matter.
The group urges that Ugandans are not allowed whatsoever to discuss matters that are already before court, saying it’s prejudice.
This has comes after most government officials including electorates of these entangled MPs seeking that their leaders should be forgiven and released as well freed like other Ugandans.
“Matters of law are not handled like that, someone cannot be forgiven before being convicted. The MPs in question are still on remand meaning that their fate is not yet determined. We urge all Ugandan to give honourable courts time to collect enough evidence, then when we get to know the verdict, we can now bring in these other options of forgiving and whatsoever.” The Group stated.
The network awakened Ugandans that there is a likelihood that the MPs could at some point be proved innocent if the evidence isn’t sufficient or if the prosecutors fail to convince the courts of law beyond reasonable doubt and therefore urged if they are forgiven before all this, may be there could be some unclear things covered that may leave tax payers wondering.
“If found guilty as Greater Masaka Anti-Corruption Partners Ltd in partnership with Volunteer Uganda Extra Ltd, will seek intervention in this matter specifically seeking for pre-bargain such that they can pay the said amount, punishment reduced or can even do community service.” They pledged.
They went on to ask Ugandans not involve President’s name in matter of rescuing suspects of corruption saying that he is a clean man and disassociates with corruption and therefore he cannot dare tamper with the court process in line.
However the network admitted that they’re against corruption related issues and vow to fight by law in all means
