The controversial National Unity Platform (NUP) man, Moses Bigirwa, who baptised himself a General and founder member PP005 has dumped the party and formed his own political pressure group.
The new group is set to take on NUP and has already grabbed many of its mobilizers.
Bigirwa, together with other disgruntled NUP youths from the different districts of Eastern region, launched the pressure group on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Jinja city.
Named Eastern Revolutionary Platform (ERP), the pressure movement is headed by Bigirwa himself as the president.
Ivan Masha is serving as the deputy president, Francis Adepho, Secretary General, while John Ndaula was unveiled as the movement publicist.
With a slogan “Eastern First,” the group, according to Bigirwa, aims to demand the shares of the Eastern region on the National Cake.
Bigirwa’s first recruits are the NUP foot soldiers and mobilizers who recently threatened to mobilize against their party principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Bobi Wine.
“We are launching this from here Busoga subregion because we believe we can base from here and traverse the entire Eastern region. We shall have subregional launch in the future,” said Adepho during the launch.
He said they are using the back colour, signifying what he termed impunity against the Eastern region since independence.
They envision to politically transform the mindset of Eastern region people on the status of Uganda leadership.
According to Bigirwa, the NRM government reportedly forgot about Eastern Uganda in service delivery, and his group therefore comes for advocates.
“We were forgotten because we don’t have anyone to speak for us. regions like Buganda have benefited from this government because they stood up and spoke. we have therefore come to speak for our region,” he said.
Bigirwa mobilizes political actors from different eastern districts to join him as they have one voice.
“Please join to negotiate power. we have taken this risk to negotiate with government,” he said.
Recently during an on air interview, Bigirwa told Radio Baba’s news editor Moses Musambi that he had pulled out of fighting president Museveni and instead would concentrate on his campaigns to take Kamuli Municipality MP seat.
