The late George Floyd’s seven-year-old daughter and her mother have sued musician Kanye West for his recent comments on Floyd’s death. Roxie Washington mother of Floyd’s only daughter Gianna confirmed that she has hired lawyers to take legal action against West, his business partners, and his associates for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.
The mother and daughter are seeking $250 million in damages caused by West’s comments when he stated that Floyd died from a fentanyl overdose and pre-existing conditions, instead of Derek Chauvin’s knee on his neck.
“Floyd’s cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death. Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd’s estate and his family.” Read part of the letter from the family.
The family has also called upon West to remove all the interviews he made about the death of Floyd since they are creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for Gianna the daughter of the late.
